Combining both line and charging contactors’ functions, the contactor unit BMS+PCC18, is now available with increased making and breaking performances for the charging function.

In 2013 already, demonstrating its leading position in technological innovation, Sécheron released the first contactor unit combining in a single set the functions of the line contactor (BMS) and the charging contactor (PCC18). Since then this unique concept has been delivered on many projects and is highly appreciated by our customers for its performances, compactness and easy way to order and install.

Under normal service conditions, charging contactors close repetitively on converter filter capacitors’ charging currents and open just as regularly on low currents, while they are required to break occasionally higher currents under abnormal operating conditions. With increased making and breaking performances up to 200 A under 1,800 VDC and 2,000 VAC, as well as operational current up to 100 A combined with extended making and breaking electrical durability under abnormal operating conditions, the new version of the PCC18 is an evolution to even greater safety. Its’ increased performances also enable it to match shorter charging cycles leading to higher making current requirements. The PCC18 is guaranteed for a minimum of 2 million mechanical operations, and can be installed on any unit available in one pole or two poles configurations from our BMS range, that covers thermal currents up to 1,800 A and voltages up to 1,800 VDC and 2,000 VAC.
